Member Monday: Tasha Bryant

Let’s turn the member spotlight on one of our long-time members, Tasha Bryant! Continue reading to learn more about what brought Tasha to CrossFit Jacked and her experience thus far.

Tell us about yourself.  Work?  Family life?

I’ve been married to my very best friend for almost 18 years! I have two awesome children that I am extremely proud of, Allie and Emma. I’ve also been a nurse for 17 years. 15 of those years have been as a urology nurse for Urology Associates of Mobile.

What made you try CrossFit for the first time?

The first time I decided to try CrossFit was after watching Allie and Wilson do a class. I pretty much decided that after 5 min. of watching them I wanted to do it. I was ready to sign up after the first day of my trial.

What was your first impression of CrossFit Jacked?

This is going to hurt!  No, really everyone was so friendly and so helpful. I noticed right off that it was like a huge extended family. Everyone talks to each other and pushed each other to keep going.

If you skip a couple of days, you can bet Joe Peek is going to call. Kelly Peek is going to send you a message and some of your CrossFit friends are going to call or message you. They want to make sure you’re okay or just see if there is anything they can do for you. You won’t get that at another gym!

What physical changes have you seen thus far?

Well, my arms are definitely bigger, my legs are bigger and I’ve got some strange muscles growing in the neck area!  My endurance level has definitely gotten better and I really like my shoulders!

Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing during your free time?  Any hobbies?

I love the salt water, sand, sun, fishing, swimming, and boat riding! Something about salt air is calming and relaxing. I love spending time with Wilson and the girls. I also enjoy spending time with my sisters and nieces and nephews. Family is VERY important to me!

When did you start CrossFit?

I first started CrossFit a little over a year ago.

What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?

My favorite thing about CrossFit is that it’s hard, nothing about it is easy! Not even showing up. I feel accomplished after completing a WOD. I feel better about myself after finishing a WOD or after getting a PR.

Favorite music/song to CrossFit too?

I enjoy working out to Eminem, Imagine Dragons, Limp Bizkit! If the song has attitude it’s a plus.  It has to be upbeat and fast paced!

Tell us something that we don’t know about you.

I quit smoking about 7 years ago after my mom died of throat cancer at 49 years old. I played college basketball even though I’m 5’2. I’m extremely competitive which is why I LOVE CrossFit. I also hate to lose more than anything! I give a new meaning to the word sore loser!

What advice would you offer a new member at CrossFit Jacked?

If I could give advice to a new member I would say, it’s hard, it hurts.  You’re going to want to quit but don’t. Wait, give it a couple of weeks. You’re going to meet the most amazing people. You will have a HUGE support group and you’re going to be proud of yourself for not quitting!

What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?

My girls of course!
