Member Monday: Shauna Johnson

It’s Member Monday and we had the pleasure of hearing from CF Jacked athlete, Shauna Johnson.  We’ve watched Shauna grow in strength since she joined us and it’s always fun to watch her.

Shauna’s a work-horse.  If you ever get the chance to see her after class, she’s not sitting around. She’s working on improving her strength and skill work so that she can reach CF Jacked’s next fitness level.  Her positive attitude and work ethic is a lesson for us all.

Tell us about yourself.  Work?  Family life?

I grew up in Montgomery. I moved here when I married my husband Keith 20 years ago. We have four kids: Tyler (18), Jamie Lynn (16), Jared (13), and Lacey (6).

I have an accounting degree, but for now, I’m happy to be a stay at home mom. I do help a friend from time to time when she has elementary field trips out on her property.

What made you try CrossFit for the first time?Shauna-Johnson-Hang

When I saw what CrossFit athletes looked like (and at any age), I knew it was something I wanted to try.

Whatever they were doing, they were getting great results.

What was your first impression of CrossFit Jacked?

I never felt dumb asking any question.

There was always someone there to cheer you on, and someone to help you celebrate your accomplishments.

What physical changes have you seen thus far?

Who knew there were abs after four kids?!

I also love the satisfaction of knowing I worked hard and feel great when I can button up some awesome jeans.

As far as strength…in the past I would have to wait for help with heavy things around my house, but not anymore.  I surprised myself the other day when I threw a heavy bucket up in our attic without any problem.

Don’t tell Joe, but it was probably from all those infamous wall balls.

Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing during your free time?  Any hobbies?

I like DIY projects, baking, watching movies, and going to the beach.

When did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit in July of last year.

What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?

Besides feeling great when I’m done, I love trying to do better than I did the day before.

I really like that the Wodify app can track all my weight history.  I can see what I’ve accomplished, and then decide where I want to go.

Favorite music/song to CrossFit too?

One day Jeremy started Thunderstruck by AC/DC right at the 10-second countdown, which was pretty motivating.

I’m really fine with anything fast paced.  Preferably without the F-bombs…I know it’s the mom in me.

Shauna-Johnson-Jump-RopeTell us something that we don’t know about you.

It’s really hard for me to sit still because I feel like there is always something I need to be doing.

What advice would you offer a new member at CrossFit Jacked?

You are worth setting aside one hour a day for yourself!

Sometimes the new movements feel awkward and can be frustrating.  Getting used to them will come with time and practice.

It won’t take long and you will feel comfortable throwing those heavy-weights around.  And you will love the results!

What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?

A picture of my sweet kids from Christmas day.
