Determination is a word used often to compliment and describe someone who lets nothing stand in there way.
According to Merriam-Webster, determination is a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end.
This perfectly describes this week’s member, Rian Melchiorre. Rian joined us shortly after giving birth to her son, Jax.
Since that time, we’ve watched Rian’s transformation develop in front of us. Weight loss, overall strength, and a healthier lifestyle are what we’ve seen of Rian but we know there’s more to her than that.
That’s why she’s the highlight on this Member Monday!
Tell us about yourself. Work? Family life?
I am a full-time stay at home mom. I graduated nursing school at 5 months pregnant and worked up until a week before Jax’s due date. My boyfriend/Jax’s father works out of town a lot so that we can afford for me to stay at home with our son! Have few family members that live in Alabama, most live in my home state Georgia.
What made you try CrossFit for the first time?
I had just recently given birth to my son and I was extremely unhappy with my body. I saw (on Facebook) a girl I went to high school with constantly posting and talking about CrossFit. So I contacted her and she sent me Joe’s number. I set up a meeting with Joe and never looked back.
What was your first impression of CrossFit Jacked?
Absolutely amazing! Not only was a ready for a change but there was something about the owners and athletes at Crossfit Jacked that pulled me in. It’s a family. We push and challenge each other every workout.
What physical changes have you seen thus far?
The better question is what physical changes haven’t I seen thus far… everything from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. But all joking aside, my arms, my back, and my legs have NEVER looked better.
Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing during your free time? Any hobbies?
Spending time with our son. Jax and I love to be outside. We go to the park almost every other day. Always active!!
When did you start CrossFit?
February of 2017.
What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?
Seeing myself get stronger every day. Accomplishing WODs I was unable to in the beginning. Being able to look at myself in the mirror naked and not be ashamed of the reflection staring back at me.
Favorite music/song to CrossFit too?
Tell us something that we don’t know about you.
I am deathly afraid of needles and I can’t stand to see big bulging veins on myself! Other people don’t bother me.
What advice would you offer a new member at CrossFit Jacked?
That I was once in their shoes and that right now it may seem hard. It may feel like you will never get better but you have to stick with it. Keep pushing. Before you know it, it’s almost a year down the road… You feel better, you look better, and that all the doubts you once had are a thing of the past! Time will pass regardless. It’s what you do with that time, that matters.
