Member Monday: Abby Norris

A published author and a wonderful person to be around, we’re visiting with CF Jacked Athlete, Abby Norris.  In the time we’ve had to work with Abby, we know one thing about her.  She’s determined and willing to put the work in to get results.

These results add up to 25 pounds and 16 inches lost to date.  We couldn’t be more proud of you, Abby!

Tell us about yourself.  Work?  Family life?

I’m a single momma with two kiddos, Liam who is 6 and Kennedy who is 4.

I work at the Junior League of Mobile as their Membership Specialist– they are a volunteer organization for women.

What made you try CrossFit for the first time?

I decided to try Crossfit for the first time because I was tired of my “Mom Bod”.

They make fun of Dad Bods, but moms have them too!! Especially when you eat what your kids do! (Guilty). The kiddos run around and burn those calories, I was not.

What was your first impression of CrossFit Jacked?

My first workout was almost nothing but front squats, I could barely walk for the next two days, and I knew right then I was in love.

That feeling of spending an hour working hard and really feeling like you have done something, that’s what I love about Crossfit.

What physical changes have you seen thus far?

This is my favorite part!! I have seen So Many Changes.

I started taking weekly pictures and measurements in January, and honestly, I have been shocked when I look at them each week. I have lost right at 25lbs and dropped 16.25 inches.

I have become stronger and I can even see little muscles when I flex my arms and legs. I changed the way I was eating, and those weekly check-ins help to motivate me from week to week.

Besides coming to class, what do you enjoy doing during your free time?  Any hobbies?

I do not have a ton of free time. I LOVE to read and write. We go to Dauphin Island quite a bit in the summer.

When did you start CrossFit?

I started in the middle of December 2017. Actually, my first night was one of the nights it snowed. I text Joe to see if the class was canceled and he said, “Nope!” #NoExcuses 😉

What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?

My favorite thing is the people. The workouts are great, but I love it when someone is struggling and everyone starts cheering them on to the finish.

Or when you are convinced you need three plates to jump onto the box, but the coach makes you try it from the floor anyway…and you make it!

Favorite music/song to CrossFit too?

I like Rihanna, Post Malone, Fetty Wap, Taylor Swift… Mainly Top 40s.

(I love Ed Sheeran, but unfortunately, you can’t Crossfit to him ☺)

Tell us something that we don’t know about you.

I’m a published author. I write fiction novels… I’ve published two so far, currently working on two more.

What advice would you offer a new member at CrossFit Jacked?

It seems daunting at first, but after a few classes, you get the hang of it. You will be very surprised by what your body can do.

What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?

My lock screen is my daughter, Kennedy, at Fort Gaines last summer.

My home screen is my son Liam on the first day of school this year.

Before we sign off…

She didn’t ask us to do this but we love plugging our athletes any opportunity we get.  f you’d like to learn more about Abby check out her website!

Her novels are also available for purchase on Amazon:
