March 2017, Athlete of the Month – Jeston Anderson

We asked Jeston to be our very first Athlete of the Month.  Not only was Jeston our gym’s very first athlete but he represents what CrossFit Jacked is all about.

A great attitude, always carrying a smile and a desire to become healthier and fitter than he was yesterday.

He took some time out of his day to answer a few questions for us:

Q: Jeston, tell us about yourself.

A: I am 31 years old I’m married with no kids. My dad and I own an automotive repair shop named Anderson Automotive. I also love to fish bass tournaments.
Q: What made you want to start CrossFit? When did you start? Why do you do it now?

A: I wanted to start crossfit because I knew that it was intense and that I would see results. I started in November of 2015. I do it now because I got completely hooked on crossfit! I love the sense of accomplishment after a hard workout and just feeling overall healthy and in shape.
Q: What were your first thoughts after your first WOD?

A: I knew after my first WOD that I had found the real deal workout program and that I was not in shape at all despite what I had thought.
Q: What do you enjoy most about CrossFit?

A: I enjoy the friendship with everyone the most. It’s like a big family

Q: What is your proudest CrossFit moment?

A: My first bar muscle up for sure

Q: What is your favorite WOD? Least favorite?

A: Anything with clean and jerks is my favorite and my least favorite is anything with a lot of thrusters.
Q: What is your favorite lift? Least favorite?

A: My favorite lift is the Snatch and my least favorite is back squats.

Q: What are your CrossFit goals? How close are you to reaching them?

A: I don’t know if this is a CrossFit goal but I want to have abs I have never even been close! I am getting closer every week!

Q: What impact has CrossFit had on you in and out of the gym?

A: I have so much more energy in and out of the gym.

Q: What is your diet like? How has it changed since you started CrossFit?

A: My diet is clean, I follow paleo for the most part. I changed my eating when I started CrossFit do get the most out of the program.
Q: If you could create a WOD, what would it look like?

A: Cleans, rows, and some pull ups

Q: What advice do you have for others about the importance of physical activity and taking care of yourself?

A: I think everyone should do some physical activity on a regular basis. It’s good for physical and mental health.

Q: What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit Jacked?

A: Stay consistent and keep pushing. You will find that CrossFit Jacked has a great group of people that encourage each other and make working out a lot of fun

Q: In your own words, what makes CrossFit different from other fitness programs that you’ve tried in the past?

A: I have found that CrossFit continues to push me where as when I was at a regular gym I found myself doing the same lifts and the same weights over and over with little results. Crossfit workouts are always different and always pushing you to be better.
